Hardware v0.1

From Gluonpilot

Jump to: navigation, search

The gluonpilot hardware is the core of the project. All firmware on this site is designed to run on the module.

Currently, the only version available is v0.1

The size is 46×59mm with a weight of 8.6 grams! The only thing you need to add is a GPS and some headers for easier connections.

This is a prototype that is 95% similar to gluonpilot v0.1

The hardware consists of the following

Backside of the module showing the microcontroller
  • Microcontroller: dsPic33FJ256MC710
    • Flash: 256kB
    • Speed: 80MHz (40MIPS)
    • DSP core
  • Dataflash: AT45DB161D
    • Size: 2MB
    • Interface: SPI
  • Pressure sensor: SCP1000
    • Digital 16-bit sensor
    • Includes temperature sensor
    • Interface: SPI
Gluonpilot module schematic v0.1
  • Accelerometer: ADXL335
    • +-3g
    • Analog output
  • Z-Axis gyro: ADXRS613
    • 150°/s
    • Analog output
  • X&Y-Axis gyro: IDG500
    • 500°/s angular rate
    • Analog output
  • 2 LEDs
  • 1 Pushbutton
  • 6 PWM servo outputs
  • 4 PWM servo inputs or 1 PPM input
  • 1 ADC input (0..15V)
  • 1 I2C port available
  • 1 SPI port available
  • EB-85 or other GPS uart input
  • 1 custom uart input
  • Input voltage: 5V
  • Option to use separate power supply for servos
  • Header pins to program microcontroller (using ICD2, Pickit2, ...)

In order to use all this, you will need additional hardware:

  • dsPIC programmer. We recommend an ICD2 (check out the ICD2-clones on ebay!). In the future, we hope to have a bootloader that will no longer require a programmer.

Check out the preprogrammed bootloader!

  • UART to USB or RS232. We recommend the FTDI TTL-232R one.
  • GPS. We recommend the LS20031 from Sparkfun.
