Circle Fun

Postby Mitch » Fri Jun 18, 2010 7:23 pm

I tightened up the PID gains by increasing the P term until I started getting some oscillations, then backed them down. First flights in full navigation mode - the red line.

Sorry Tom, I didn't try to break your altitude record. Everything is working very well!

I did bust the flight line but there was nobody else around! :D I walked out onto the field to do the takeoff on the grass so I could establish the home position away from the line. I just underestimated 70 meters by a little!

I attached the *.KML files also.

Great to see you tamed the gluonpilot :-)

The circle seems to be more of an oval? Was is windy or are your gains a bit too low?

Hadn't really looked at that. There was about 5 knots of wind from the northeast - top right. Gains should be high enough to track the circle - the turn in to the circle at the beginning of navigation mode is of tight enough radius. I haven't tweaked up the "heading to roll" parameter but I will.
