Can´t get GP to work!

Postby Gutzufuss » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:03 pm

Hello all,

bought my GP (v0.1n - sounds like a quite early version?) via eBay with GPS and first tried to connect to GCS on my laptop. Connection was successful, could upload a simple flightplan.
Then I tried to connect to the receiver and servos in my plane.
Due to open Jumper 2 and 3 I powered the GP either with an external battery (7,4) OR with the connected laptop. To power the servos I additionaly connected the main battery to the ESC (I hope, I haven´t misunderstood the methods of powering the module). For a short moment the ailerons react when I moved the GP-mainboard (while in manual mode!?), but that was all. After that I tried to connect with GCS again for configuration, but couln´t get a connection.

Now I´m not able to connect to the GP-mainboard longer than 5 seconds. After physical usb-connection both LEDs are on for a few seconds, then the red starts blinking (GPS is unplugged). When trying to connect with GCS, the connection get lost after 5 secs.

Does anybody have an idea how to get it to work or what went wrong?

Thanks for any replies!
Chris

Hi Chris,

That sure is an old GP version :-)

How did you connect the power? Normally GP1 doesn't have a voltage regulator so you should use 5V. Luckily there is no component directly using 5V so there should be no harm done. However that same 7.4V is being sent to your receiver as well...

Which firmware version is on the board? Could you try putting on the latest firmware first?

Hi Tom,

trying to flash the actual firmware was one of my first actions after getting
the GP. After connecting with GluonConfig I tried to do a firmware update (with
latest version 0.10Beta4). This update process stopped with an error, so I
decided to go on with other tests (see first post).

Now, that you asked, I thought about giving the firmware update another try.
Although connection got lost with GCS after a few seconds, GluonConfig could establish a
connection, so I was able (I thought) to start the update. It also stops with an
error, but now my GluonPilot is dead. LEDs stay dark after usb-connection and
GCS or GluonConfig doesn´t see any connected hardware.

Is this the end of my GluonPilot ???

It's hard to tell what happened with a second hand GP1...
You don't happen to know anybody with an ICD2, Pickit2 or other microchip programming device?

I asked but no one around me has something like that. Is there any other possibility to get it to work?

Hopefully,
Chris

I can get some help from the one who sold the GluonPilot. He has an ICD, knows GlounPilot and this forum and tries to fix it.
I hope he will succeed...

Thank you,
Chris
