Gluonpilot2 has arrived!!!

Postby icebear » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:57 pm

Today I received a package from Belgium containing the new GP2 - thank you Tom!!!

The module and extension board looks very well designed and while I haven't had time to test it yet, I am impressed by it's small size and the bare board w/o connectors weighs only 8 grams(!).

At the same time I received an Xbee connector with 5v->3,3v regulator made by Eddi in Germany!
Again - a big thankyou to Eddi!

I hope to be able to intergrate the lightweight GP2 into a small Micro Stryker F27 before the winter...

Christmas came early this year... :D

Well done Tom!

That's a lot of presents in one day ;-)

Good luck with them, and be careful with the battery connection: don't reverse it!

The software/firmware is still beta, so test it with care!

Yah!
Mine also arrived today.
I must say that they look brilliant.
I will play over the weekend and do bench testing.
Tom good work!

Agreed!

I will use it with care but of course an 80 gram MAV won't hurt anyone...

It's the Beta0.9 we are using, right?

Thanks again!

Yes, It's not completely finished, but it will be :-)

New features for the current 0.9 beta release:
- New OSD features
- Configure the OSD display
- RSSI of the RC-transmitter for the OSD
- Enable WAAS for GPS
- Mount the GP backwards
- Improved IMU stability (better sensor + algorithm tuning)
- Change the "neutral pitch angle" for non-waterpass mounting in your UAV
- Show 2nd battery voltage
- Show battery current & mAh (there is a bug, it shows it with a factor 2)

I will try to post an update this weekend.
Also I still need to make a bit more documentation (connection diagrams, ...)

Today I have loaded latest firmware and did some bench testing.
All seems to work perfect!
Now it's time to mount GP2 in my plane and do some test flights.

Here are three photos of my GP1 and GP2:

Does anyone know what are the default PID settings for GP2?
I just wonder If I can use the same I had in GP1 or need to work on those from scratch.
