ESC for quadricopter

Postby salviador » Wed May 23, 2012 7:56 am

Hi Tom , sorry , another question/doubt.
I must choose specific ESC for quadricopter?
Because, if control of the pid has a refresh rate up to 200 Hz and the standard ESC has a input control equal to servo refresh 20mS (50Hz) with impulse 1~2mS.
Are there possible problems of control? the out of pid (200Hz rate) is too fast for esc.?

Most ESC's support this. Most people use "plush" or similar ESC's from hobbyking. They are cheap and work good.

Also there are ESC that you can reprogram to 400MHz and use fast pwm.

This is what I've done with Tower Pro 18A ESC.

Here is the link to a list of ESC that can be reprogrammed:

Here is the link where you can download fast PWM firmware:

This won't be necessary as the gluonpilot currently works at max 250Hz in quadrocopter mode
