How does a flight prep with Gluonpilot work?

I´ve got no idea how to use an autopilot or stabilizing system, so i am a little curious about how the "home setting" works.

As far as i can tell, the button on the module has no function (yet). From my experience with OSDs and Antenna tracking it is necessary to "set home" prior to launch. If you don´t, the unit usually uses the coordinates it gets from the GPS directly after power-up. Those are usually useless.

How does it work with the gluonpilot to skip that manual setting of the home position? I guess you wouldn´t need it for stabilized flight, but for return to home it would be nice to have a proper home position?

Cheers, Jens

Hi Jens,

All autopilot systems kind of interpret this in a different way.

Gluonpilot sets the home position automatically. You can choose between using relative (to the home position) or absolute coordinates in your flight plan.
For gluonpilot the home position is the position where the plane first reaches 2m/s (about 7km/h). So this is more or less the take-off position.

ok... thats a neat concept, makes using the GP easier ( i always forget to set Home on my OSD ^^ and have to land, set home and launch again).

Thx for answering =)

I took a look at the autonomous flight chapter.... and i wondered how a return to home scenario would look like... simply use the Circle Rel command?

Would that do the trick?

Yes I would do:

1. CIRCLE_REL(100m, 100m, 0m, 0m) [circle around home position]
2. GOTO(1) [Keep doing that]
