New Gluonpilot project

Hi all,

I just started a new project for the season using the Gluonpilot.
I have had one of the early units but decided to use the latest hw version to allow for the nice extension board and XBee adapter.

Previously the GP has been flying my SuperImpress but now I decided to use Tom's trusted setup with a Funjet Ultra. I am new to flying wings but can't be that different from fast aileron planes, right? :?

Anyway, after a few days I have now built the Funjet and integrated the GP and XBee extenson board. Everything fits very nicely in the fuselage and here is a rundown of the gear I am using;

Gluonpilot with latest beta fw
Extension board with XBee
Caste Creations Phoenix ESC 30A
MEGA 16/15/5 motor with 7x5 prop
2s2100 mAh LiPO
Hitec Optima 6 rx

All-up weight is 600 grams + battery pack of approx 125 grams so it is a light setup.

Now we are just awaiting good weather for the maiden!

Cheers,

Bjorn

Ha, ha - yes you could say I got some inspiration from yours...

I thought it would be a quick way to success if I am going to venture out over sea this spring to take video of some lighthouses...

Hi,

Thanks - I copied Toms's config so it should work ;-)

I am using the Keychain HD cam. About 19 USD but quite amazing quality for its price...

No room for the GoPro in the Funjet, but I got a Replay XD HD cam which I am thinking about installing if it can carry the extra 100 grams...

Cheers,

Björn

Yesterday I managed to sneak out over lunch to try out waypoints. Here's a link to another video!

Very nice to see the recorded GCS working too!

Ayone care to comment on the performance let me know and I'll attach logfiles.

Hi,

I managed a third flight today with;

- auto takeoff
- standby circle
- full route with 4 wp's
- descent circle
- stabilized landing

The Gluonpilot performed flawlessly!

Here is a short video; http://vimeo.com/35527922

Enjoy!

Thank you - I am still just a beginner with the Gluonpilot so I appreciate it! :D

I have attached the log file from the GCS - unfortunately I haven't managed to extract any XML or KML files from the FLASH memory (although I managed last year with my older GP) - I think my current fw has a bug but I just installed the latest fw so next time it should be possible.

Anyway - I think the logfile says it all :). I'd be happy to hear any comments from you or anyone else with more experience about the performance of my setup...

Cheers,

BJörn
