I was thinking about an concept to attach a mobile phone to Gluonpilot board to transfer telemetry data.

This should be achievable by connecting the phone to FTDI connection on Gluonpilot board.
Most modern 3G mobile phones have USB RS232 connection that would allow us to attach the phone to mentioned above connection.

The phone would then transfer this data over mobile operator and could be reviewed on your laptop or second mobile phone.

Did anyone try to do this?

Good idea for long distance flights, and probably not too hard to do.
Two things might be an issue:
- Real-time link. I think the GPRS link might buffer data?
- Cost :-)

Could be great to try it out with a GPRS module: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=9533
